Kolektiv Action

Background

10.02 - Kolektiv Screening

The Kolektiv Screening series launched Kolektiv Action with a special screening of the 1992 film “Crni Bombarder”—a powerful exploration of rebellion, music, and resistance. The screening attracted a diverse audience, sparking deep conversations about the role of music in community-building and activism. As the film unfolds the story of youth in the midst of socio-political tension, the shared experience resonated with attendees, many of whom drew parallels between the film’s themes and the current challenges in Kosovo and the wider region. It was a meaningful opening to a week of collaboration and artistic expression, with many participants eager to continue the discussions throughout the festival.

11.02 - DIY Instrument Building Workshop

The DIY Instrument Building Workshop was a creative and hands-on event, where participants learned how to craft instruments from found materials. Guided by Kolektiv members, everyone from beginners to experienced musicians got involved in the process of transforming everyday objects into musical instruments. The end result was a vibrant, diverse collection of homemade instruments, each carrying its own unique sound. These instruments were later used in jam sessions, contributing to a distinctive, collaborative soundscape.

11.02 - Dj-ING Basics Workshop

In the DJ-ing Basics Workshop gave participants an introduction to DJ equipment and mixing. Led by Kolektiv members, the workshop covered the fundamentals of setting up DJ gear, understanding different equipment, and learning basic mixing techniques. The hands-on approach allowed participants to experiment with live sets, preparing them to explore DJing in future events or even try out their skills in upcoming jam sessions. The two workshops together showcased the diversity of music-making practices and brought together participants with varying levels of experience.

12.02 - Mural and Typography Workshop

The Mural and Typography Workshop brought a burst of color and creativity to Kolektiv Space. Artists Bilge Emir and Marc Hennes guided participants through a collaborative process of creating indoor and outdoor murals, combining techniques of street art and typography. The workshop focused on how text and visual art can merge to create powerful statements. Participants worked side-by-side with the artists, learning about the significance of urban art in public spaces and experimenting with their own ideas. By the end of the day, Kolektiv Space was adorned with vibrant murals, offering a new dynamic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. The workshop demonstrated the power of art to transform a space, creating a collective sense of ownership and creativity.

13.02 - Tufting Workshop

The Tufting Workshop was a unique hands-on experience where participants experimented with tufting techniques, a tactile art form that involves creating plush textile pieces using tufting guns. Under the guidance of Kolektiv members, participants crafted several beautiful pieces, many of which will now be displayed in the space. The workshop not only provided insight into tufting but also encouraged attendees to share techniques, sparking a collaborative spirit that extended beyond the workshop itself.

13.02 - Guerrilla Recording Workshop

The Guerrilla Recording Workshop focused on capturing high-quality audio in unconventional indoor or outdoor settings using portable equipment. Participants learned techniques for recording ambient sounds, interviews, or performances in diverse environments, enhancing their audio production skills while embracing spontaneity.

14.02 - Jam Session Performance

The Collaborative Jam Session was a highlight of Kolektiv Action. In collaboration with AKC GNEZDO, the KOLEKTIV Jam Crew joined forces with local and visiting musicians for a day of improvisation and sound experimentation. The jam session was an open space for musical collaboration, with participants using instruments made in the previous workshop alongside their own gear. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone encouraged to explore new sounds and push the boundaries of their instruments. The session was live broadcasted on Kolektiv Radio, allowing listeners to experience the creative energy in real-time. This collaborative session was a testament to the power of music to bring people together, spark creativity, and foster community.

15.02 - Cirkus Workshop

The Cirkus Workshop, led by Jelena Smiljanić (Cirkusfera) and Teodora Simić, offered a fascinating introduction to contemporary circus and acrobalance. Jelena and Teodora shared their experience in the circus world, teaching participants movement techniques, body control, and the art of balancing. The workshop was an opportunity for attendees to engage physically with the art form, learning new skills and exploring how circus practices can be used as a means of expression and communication. Jelena also highlighted the importance of circus in building community and offering a platform for self-expression.

15.02 - Ludwig Ludwig Concert

In the evening, Ludwig Ludwig, the post-punk industrial project from AKC GNEZDO, took the stage at Kolektiv Space for an intense live performance. Known for their raw energy and experimental sound, Ludwig Ludwig delivered an unforgettable set that captivated the audience. The performance was also live streamed on Kolektiv Radio, reaching a wider audience and allowing fans from around the world to tune in. The combination of circus and industrial music made for a truly diverse and immersive day of artistic expression.

16.02 - Radio Broadcasting Workshop

The final event of Kolektiv Action was the Radio Broadcasting Workshop led by Radio Podkrovlje. The workshop focused on setting up an open-source online radio, guiding participants through the technical and creative processes of digital broadcasting. Attendees learned about the equipment, software, and techniques necessary to create and manage their own radio stations. The session was both informative and practical, providing valuable insights for anyone interested in radio production and online broadcasting. With this new knowledge, participants were inspired to experiment with their own shows, podcasts, and broadcasts in the future.
