The Drin – I Lost My Way For Centuries

The Drin have always sounded like a band slightly out of step with the present. On I Lost My Way For Centuries, that feeling becomes almost the whole point.

Their murky underground art-punk has never been interested in clean edges or easy conclusions. Guitars drift in and out, rhythms seem to move at their own pace, and the vocals carry the detached feeling of someone remembering a place that may never have existed. There are traces of dub, krautrock and garage-rock, but The Drin use them less as genres than as textures.

What makes the record interesting is its sense of disorientation. It doesn’t simply sound dark or nostalgic—it sounds unmoored, as if the songs have been pulled from somewhere outside ordinary time. The Drin aren’t trying to recreate the past; they seem more interested in what remains after the past has started to decay.

I Lost My Way For Centuries is music for getting lost without necessarily wanting to be found. And that, in The Drin’s world, feels less like a problem than a destination.
