Canadian art-punks Crack Cloud anounced their new album. After years of self-released, critically acclaimed work, they’ve decided to sign with indie label Jagjaguwar for their upcoming third album “Red Mile”, set for release on July 26.

The lead single, “Blue Kite,” is a exploration that reflects Crack Cloud’s unique genre-bending approach. Described as a blend of “phlegmatic proto-punk” and “synthy new wave” style, the track sounds like a fresh take on the post-punk sound.

Lyrically, “Blue Kite” might draw inspiration from a surprising source. Band member Zach Choy has cited the 1993 Chinese film of the same name, which explores themes of conformity and escape during a tumultuous period.

The “Blue Kite” music video, filmed in the Mojave Desert, matches the song’s energy with “skydiving punk” visuals.
